FAQ

What is a copywriter?

Handy post here on what a copywriter does.

Why should I hire a copywriter?

  • Copywriters specialize in specific wording that motivates your audience to perform the action you want them to take. Strong calls to action convert prospects and move products off the shelves.
  • By outsourcing your copy, you’re saving your time to be spent on the aspects of business you’re best at.
  • Original content boosts Search Engine Optimization (SEO). You want customers to find you!
  • You know the features of your product or service, but they need to be conveyed to the consumer as benefits, not just a wad of details. A copywriter uses expertise to portray features as the assets they are.
  • Copywriting is time-tested and used by the best of the best. Utilizing professional copywriting shows potential customers the best of you.

What if my business type isn’t listed on your homepage?

No problem! My job as a copywriter is to make information interesting and engaging, and that applies no matter what industry you’re in.

How do you charge for your services?

Typically by a flat fee, which will be quoted up front in your proposal. Services are priced based on value, not on how much time it takes to research, write and proof your docs. If you need writing services regularly, we can discuss a monthly retainer.

You can find the details of the process here.

If you are a non-profit organization, I may be able to arrange a free service for you depending on my availability. Just contact me.

Can you write a speech for me?

Absolutely. You can find more information on that here.

What makes you different from other copywriters?

At this time, I don’t negotiate for royalties based on sales, as many copywriters do. No matter how much extra money the copy makes you, all profits beyond my flat fee are yours to keep.

I don’t use hourly fees unless the project type or length is uncertain – so no bill will be snowballing as we work. You’re getting a clean, honest deal for the value. I don’t cut corners on quality at all.

You get professional copy from a people-pleasing writer. If you’ve ever been to Cleveland, Ohio, you may know how friendly and pleasant us Clevelanders in general are!

How will we communicate?

Most of my business is done on the computer, so if you want to hire an online copywriter, I can accommodate that. Available communication preferences include:

  • E-mail
  • Instant online chat via Google Hangouts or Skype
  • Phone calls, teleconferences
  • Video conferences via Google Hangouts
  • Special arrangements for travel are available but not typically necessary

Do you charge for a quote?

The proposal is free. There is no obligation.

How do you deliver the copy?

I’ll send you the copy via email in two forms: a Microsoft Word document and an Adobe PDF file.

What if I want changes made to the first draft of copy?

No problem! I always strive to hit the ball out of the park for you on the first shot, but your project allows for up to three sets of revisions.

Do you write website content?

Yes! I write the text that readers see on home pages, About Us pages, and other main category pages. I also write copy for specific product pages, landing pages, and promotions. Here are descriptions of the services I provide.

Can you look at copy that’s already done?

Certainly. I can evaluate copy that is already completed or work with a rough draft you may have already started.

Do you accept all copywriting projects?

I consider all potential projects. If I am confident that I’m a fit to write your copy and have the availability your project needs, we’ll move forward right away. I can’t accept every single project, but I review all requests equally.

How fast is the turnaround?

It depends on the complexity of the project; I have fast response time, and we’ll discuss your deadline so that the completion date works for both of our schedules.

What if I live outside of Ohio or America? Can you still help me?

Sure! I am able to assist clients locally, out of state, and in different countries. I am a native English speaker and lifetime American, but I also study and research international markets in other English-speaking locales. Bonus: my spouse is native to Bosnia and fluently multi-lingual, so if you need the copy translated into Bosnian, Croatian, Serbo-Croatian or Serbian, I can arrange that as well.

Will you sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA)?

Yes. An NDA clause to protect your information is already included in the documents I will send to you. I can also sign a separate NDA if required. Ethics are important to me and I respect your trust. One of the reasons I got into copywriting is because I believe the marketing and advertising businesses need more trustworthy people.

What payment methods do you accept?

I accept company checks (U.S. residents) and a variety of electronic payment methods through PayPal. PayPal charges a fee of approximately 3% for the transaction, and transfer fees may apply to international clients.

Will I sign a contract?

Yes. Your contract is written in clear terms and sent via e-mail once you’ve accepted the proposal.

Who owns the copy you write for me?

Once final payment is received, rights to the work belong to you. You can then use the work however you wish. Edit it, repurpose it, print it on a t-shirt – whatever makes you happy!

Can you be my ghostwriter?

Yes, I ghostwrite, and it will be kept strictly confidential.
